Place de la resistance L-4041 Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
Located in the center of the city of Esch-sur-Alzette, at the end of the pedestrian street, the National Museum of the Resistance retraces the history of Luxembourg from 1940 to 1945, from Nazi oppression, through the reactions of the people (passive resistance, forced conscription, strike, insubordination, Luxembourgers in guerrilla resistance and in the allied armies) to liberation, through photographs, objects, and artwork. A second section deals with Nazi repression and the concentration camp system, as well as the fate of the Jews of Luxembourg.
All in all, it is a commemorative and educational space for youths (via the stations), the general public, cultural tourists and experts alike. Our permanent exhibition can be experienced with an audioguide in English, French or German.
The museum organizes temporary exhibits, provides guided tours and workshops, and includes a reading room, a library, and a gift shop. Texts in French and German. English and Portuguese translations available.
