About Crèche la Licorne Ii

LA LICORNE NUSERY

La Licorne nursery, founded in 1998, welcomes children starting at 2 months old through the age of 6 years during their parents’ working hours.

This place allows for children’s education and development thanks to a well-designed program. Children will participate in various activities and educational games that promote physical development as well as the harmonious development of interpersonal and sensory functions necessary for their growth. The role of our nursery is complementary to the various parents’ duties.

This mission is central to our team of daycare workers and instructors and we want to honor it through our work, our expertise and our experience in the field of education.

Our strengths

La Licorne nursery is a place that allows for children’s education and development through a working program in which the children and instructors are involved.

The nursery’s project

During the first days of the children’s time at the nursery, the staff will take the time observe them and listen to the parents in order to better meet the needs and expectations of both parties. This will enable us to better understand the child and facilitate their integration into the nursery.

We guarantee a personalized setting and a safe environment, with special areas for the age groups in order to promote spatial-temporal learning. Throughout the day, the children will participate in various work activities through which they will learn how to live together. Children will gradually learn to be self-sufficient as much as possible.

Gradual adaptation

Children will benefit from a gradual adaptation time in order to facilitate their integration into the nursery, whether they are there part- or full-time..

Care

This is a special time spent with the adult. Children will discover their bodies through touch and speech. Our goal is for the children to have a sensation of well-being.

Learning hygiene

This is often done by imitating adults. At the beginning of learning, a framework is identified (after meals, after naps, etc.). They are offered a training toilet or a real toilet, then they will ask for this themselves.

Of course, this is done with parental approval and collaboration.

Meals

This is a special time of friendliness and relaxation where children and adults gather around the table. This is also a learning time that promotes:

  • discussions between children and adults
  • learning discipline
  • rules for before, during and after meals: washing hands, waiting your turn, staying seated
  • hygiene and self-sufficiency: how to eat cleanly and how to eat alone
  • discovery of smells, tastes and colors.

Sleep

This is an important time where children can rest and recover. To do this, we have created a safe climate around the children and we respect the rhythm of each child.

Play

Play is essential to the proper development of the children, the construction of their individuality and personality.

  • Free play: alone or in groups, this fosters creativity, imagination and socialization.
  • Guided play: this requires the presence of an adult, who will teach them the rules to follow.
  • Motor play: this promotes physical development and helps with the harmonious development of interpersonal and functional skills. The various games will create a mental body map for the child.

Self-sufficiency

This involves giving children confidence and making them responsible so they can do things independently. This will allow them to express their desires and needs thanks to the staff, who are always available to support children in the different learning phases. A certain number of factors is required so they can pass every step:

  • Emotional guidelines = Instructors
  • Time guidelines = schedules (meals, naps, etc.)
  • Spatial guidelines = changing the area depending on the activity, confidential relationship with parents, communication, opening the nursery to parents (outings, parties, etc.), continuity between the home and the nursery, but also between the nursery and home. Changing the layout of the space (child-size chairs and tables, toilets, beds, etc.)
