Château de clervaux L-9712 Clervaux, Luxembourg
The Family of Man at the Château de Clervaux
Presented for the first time in 1955, the exhibition is a manifesto for peace and the fundamental equality of men through post-war humanist photography. The images of authors such as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, Robert Doisneau, August Sander and Ansel Adams are presented in a modernist and spectacular way.
After a journey around the world to more than 160 museums, the last complete version of the exhibition was installed in 1994 in the Château de Clervaux on a permanent basis.
Since its creation, The Family of Man has attracted more than 10 million visitors and thus enters the history of photography as a legendary exhibition. Since 2003, the exhibition has been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.
