Gabi and Guido Schmitz are the hands, hearts and minds behind the family company Schmitz Luxembourg. For over 20 years, we have been passionate about giving the very special materials we work with as furriers the care and attention they deserve. All of the products in our store in central Luxembourg have been selected by us personally on buying trips or at trade shows because they thoroughly impressed us. As master furriers, we will also gladly care for, alter and repair your favourite garments and accessories.

We draw on our experience

We select our stock in person at the manufacturers’ premises so that we know we can have complete confidence in the origins and processing of our products. When we choose items, we pay particularly close attention to their look and feel. Our extensive experience and expertise have taught us that these are the most important criteria for a high-quality, ethical product.

In accordance with our understanding of quality, we only offer you high-quality European-branded products that we have personally selected. Whether you’re interested in a lined raincoat, a down-lined leather quilted jacket, a plain suede jacket or warming lambskin gloves, in our salesrooms on Rue du Curé you will find trendy highlights, tried-and-tested classics and lovingly selected accessories at any time of the year.

Materials

Hides inspire us again and again with their natural variety, special feel, fascinating appearance and the incomparable sensation of what it feels like to wear them. What is also remarkable, however, is the longevity of these natural products, which for us is synonymous with sustainability. And what’s more, when skilfully reworked, a fur can be reused again and again – and thus become a favourite piece for many additional years. The latest in fur fashion also regularly means surprises with new fur combinations, dyeing, processing and finishing techniques. This is how we create unique and fashionable garments that are also convincing in everyday use and provide long-lasting pleasure.

In our salesrooms on Rue du Curé, a special selection of attractive accessories that go with the latest fashion trends and our classics awaits you. We regard these little items as a way to skilfully add to and accentuate our entire collection. We would be happy to help you find a matching scarf, warming lambskin hat, cosy gloves or small pieces of jewellery to complement your outfit perfectly.

Service

A valuable fur should not only make you happy in the short term, but, in our opinion, it should do so for a very, very long time to come. That is why our advice does not end with the sale, but continues to be at your disposal over the course of several years. We are delighted to take on any kind of service work, regardless of whether the garment comes from our company or not.

We are your expert partner for any questions and problems that may arise. We have extensive expertise in any service work that may be necessary, be it repair, alteration or cleaning work, and will of course undertake such work within our company and with selected partners.

We are also happy to offer our consultation service as well as fitting services as part of private home visits.

Repairs

For small or large repairs as well as alterations, your fur, leather and lambskin clothing is in very good hands in our workshop. Typical work that we carry out expertly: 

• Shortening sleeve length and hems

• Insertion of new zips

• Replacing buttons

• Insertion of new linings

• Renewing collars

Alterations

Our workshop is at your service for any alterations you may require. If your favourite piece no longer fits perfectly, we can change it professionally to the desired size or length. If you don’t like it any more, we will redesign it to create a fashionable piece based on your ideas and our expertise. A particularly attractive variation is to transform a fur into a feather-light silk reversible raincoat. And many a fur coat has continued to bring joy in the form of beautiful home accessories thanks to our help – for example as a cuddly blanket or pillow.

Cleaning and storage

Clothes made of fur, hide or leather are high-quality natural products whose longevity benefits from professional care, cleaning and storage. We can take care of these tasks in a professional manner – and thus make an important contribution to maintaining the value of your favourite piece.
